MANILA—Sarah Geronimo is dubbed the country’s “Pop Star Royalty” for good reason. Within hours of the Friday release of her new single, “Sandata,” the synth-pop track topped iTunes Philippines’ singles chart. It is now also available on Spotify. Geronimo’s music label, Viva Records, has yet to detail the creative minds behind the single. It is also unclear if it’s meant to be a carrier track of an upcoming album. It’s been nearly 3 years since Geronimo’s last album, “The Great Unknown,” which was released in December 2015. That spawned the hits “Tala” and the album’s titular track. On top of a recording comeback, she is hard at work on a new movie, “Miss Granny,” co-starring James Reid. It is slated for release this year under Viva Films.ABS-CBN News
