Jeron Artest, the 16-year-old son of NBA all-star Metta World Peace, is in the process of getting a Philippine passport, which means one thing — he would be eligible to play for the national basketball team. “My son already applied for a Philippine passport. He’s hoping to make the (national) team someday,” Peace said on Saturday in a report posted on Spin.ph, quoting a conversation between the Los Angeles Lakers forward and SnippetMedia’s Kristina Maralit upon his arrival in the country. Artest’s mother, Jennifer Ruth Uy Palma, is a Filipina. Artest was in Manila as recently as 2015, where a report came out that he was open to play varsity basketball in the Philippines. According to Maralit, Peace was in the country for 24 hours on a “personal visit.”
